DOWNTOWN Officials will cut ribbons to open 2 new businesses

Both businesses target women.
YOUNGSTOWN -- City officials will cut the ribbon at two downtown businesses next week.
A new Curves women's fitness center franchise will open in the Phar-Mor Centre concourse in a spot formerly occupied by a drugstore. The ribbon-cutting will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday.
The owners, Jerry and Janet Rodgers, are from Lordstown, said Claire Maluso, the city's Federal Plaza director.
It's a good sign to see folks from outside the city expressing optimism in downtown, she said.
The fitness center will cater to women who work downtown and features the franchise's 30-minute workouts.
The new business is in a convenient spot to fit regular exercise into daily work schedules, which is the type of business needed downtown, Maluso said. She isn't aware of any other fitness centers downtown besides the YMCA.
There are thousands of Curves franchises around the country.
Members of city council and the administration also will cut the ribbon at 10 a.m. Wednesday for a ladies boutique operating at 12 S. Phelps St. B & amp;B Ladies Accessories Boutique opened in the fall in a second-floor space on Phelps. But in recent months, owner Bea Holley-Lindsey moved the store to the ground-level spot at 12 S. Phelps, so the new location will be celebrated.
The store carries ladies clothing accessories and beauty products.
