Smith's two-hitter leads Ursuline to win



STRUTHERS -- Ursuline High baseball pitcher Pat Smith (1-0) pitched a two-hitter and struck out six batters Tuesday as the Irish defeated Girard, 5-2, at Cene Park.
Chris Ziemanski hit a triple and single and scored twice for Ursuline (1-1). Teammate Cliff Panezich hit a double and single and drove in two runs.
Girard (1-1) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but Ursuline bounced back with a run in the bottom of the first, then added another run in the second.
Chaney 9, South Range 0
STRUTHERS -- Adam Boris' four RBIs included three on a seventh-inning bases-loaded double.
Winning pitcher Tom Enyeart struck out nine batters in six innings. Freshman Joe Morales hit a pinch-hit triple to score two runs.
Ryan Maxwell and Tom Dechellis had South Range's (2-2) two hits.
Niles 9, Struthers 3
STRUTHERS -- Chris Utterback tripled home two runs to lead the Red Dragons (1-1, 1-1 Metro Athletic Conference).
Mike McGuire, Kevin Robertson and Joe Skocik had two hits each for Niles.
For Struthers (0-3, 0-3), Steve Stenglen had two hits.
Southington 10, Lowellville 0
STRUTHERS -- Kevin Swiger homered and Eric Elmore had two hits for the Wildcats. Dan Bond doubled for the Rockets (0-2).
