Parody song about Rendell speeds to popularity

YORK, Pa. (AP) -- Reports that Gov. Ed Rendell's state limousine was clocked above 100 mph on the Pennsylvania Turnpike have inspired an oldies-station disc jockey to pen a parody song.
"The Little Ol' Governor From Pennsylvania" debuted Thursday on WSOX-FM in York, and songwriter Michael "Mad Dog" Ovadia said it has proved to be an instant hit.
"Our listeners have been so passionate about the story. It's kind of surprising," he said Friday.
Done to the tune of Jan and Dean's "Little Old Lady (From Pasadena)," the lyrics refer to Rendell as "a cheesesteak, speed-lovin' legislator / Who can't keep his foot off the accelerator. Go Eddie, go Eddie, go Eddie, go!"
Rendell's office declined to comment.
Earlier this week, late-night talk-show host David Letterman poked fun at Rendell. Letterman noted the reports of Rendell's speeding car before introducing a Top 10 list titled "Top Ten Signs Your Governor Is Nuts." No. 10 on the list: "State has a minimum speed limit of 135 mph."
