SHORT-TERM OPPORTUNITIES
Angels for Animals: Volunteers are needed on April 23-25 at the Canfield Fairgrounds to help with the organization's garage sale. They will sort, organize and price the donations. Angels for Animals also will have a fun run April 25.
Salvation Army: People are needed to help with the McSal's Lunch Program the last 10 working days of each month.
YMCA: Volunteers are needed to help assemble the organization's newsletter the third week of each month.
Camp Fire USA: People are needed to become volunteer environmental assistants and instructors to facilitate the organization's outdoor camp in May.
Mill Creek MetroParks: Volunteers are needed to assist with the park's annual plant sale April 29 through May 1.
Multiple Sclerosis Super Walk: People needed to walk, run or help facilitate the event April 25 in Mill Creek Park.
Giant Eagle LPGA Classic: Volunteers needed for a variety of positions to help at the tournament, which runs from July 12-18.
CAN YOU HELP?
Long-term volunteer help also is needed for these agencies:
Associated Neighborhood Centers: Volunteers are needed to assist with after-school tutoring and the senior socialization program.
Second Harvest Foodbank: Two positions are available, one for a receptionist to answer the telephone and greet people, and the other for a delivery person to help give out food.
Help Hotline Crisis Center: Volunteers will be instructed on how to use telephones to provide reassurance, referrals and crisis intervention. Training begins the week of April 26 and continues for five weeks.
Lake Milton Caring Center: People are needed to assist with cooking, washing dishes and visiting with clients.
Mended Hearts: The organization is looking for people who have recovered from heart-related problems and would be willing to visit heart patients in the hospital.
Family Services Agency: A volunteer is needed a few hours a week for light office work.
D & amp;E Counseling Centers: A volunteer is needed to do filing and answer the telephone.
Volunteer Services to Seniors: The organization is looking for people who enjoy public speaking to help recruit volunteers.
Big Brothers/Big Sisters: Adults, especially men, are needed as mentors for children ages 7-15.
RSVP: People 55 and older are asked to share their life skills with the community through various volunteer opportunities.
American Red Cross (Disaster Services): Volunteers are needed to help provide emergency aid to military families and to assist with youth and safety programs.
