ROUNDUP
Friday's other games
Senators 3, Flyers 1
PHILADELPHIA -- Zdeno Chara had a goal and an assist, and Martin Prusek made 39 saves to lead the surging Ottawa Senators to victory over the Philadelphia Flyers. Despite a number of big hits, the much-anticipated game was less combative than the previous meeting. In the Flyers' 5-3 victory on March 5, the teams combined to set an NHL record with 419 penalty minutes. The feud continued off-ice following the game, with each squad blaming the other for instigating the fighting.
Islanders 6, Hurricanes 4
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Mariusz Czerkawski and Adrian Aucoin each scored twice, helping the New York Islanders clinch their third straight playoff appearance with a victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. New York secured the final postseason berth in the Eastern Conference, eliminating Buffalo from the race. The Islanders are only one point behind Montreal for seventh place, with each team having one game remaining.
Maple Leafs 2, Sabres 0
BUFFALO N.Y. -- Ed Belfour stopped 17 shots to record his 74th career shutout and Toronto beat the Buffalo Sabres to set the Maple Leafs' record for points in a season. Chad Kilger scored 5:46 into the third period and Joe Nieuwendyk had an empty-net goal, keeping Toronto's chances alive to win the Northeast Division. The Maple Leafs, who have 101 points, will play their final regular-season game today at Ottawa. Toronto trails Ottawa and Boston by a point.
Wild 4, Stars 2
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Rickard Wallin scored a pair of goals and goaltender Manny Fernandez beat his former team for the first time in four tries this season as the Minnesota Wild topped the Dallas Stars. Ron DiMaio scored twice in the second period for the Stars, who have 95 points and are in fifth place in the Western Conference.
