YOUNGSTOWN -- Dave Elliott has joined the coaching staff as an assistant coach. Elliott, who has more than 25 years of collegiate coaching experience, will be the wide receivers coach.
Elliott spent the past three seasons at Central Connecticut State and was also head coach at Morningside (Iowa) College. He has also been an assistant at Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Toledo, Washington State, Iowa State and Winona State.
Elliott was defensive coordinator at Central Connecticut State. He coached the linebackers and coordinated the punt return team.
He is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where he started as a defensive back for two seasons.
Brian Wright, who served as the wide receivers/quarterbacks coach last year will remain the quarterbacks coach and also serve as recruiting coordinator.
Softball
YOUNGSTOWN -- YSU's doubleheader against Toledo has been rescheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m. in Toledo.
The Penguins are scheduled to play host to Illinois-Chicago Saturday at 1 p.m. at McCune Park in Canfield.
Baseball
YOUNGSTOWN -- YSU's doubleheader at West Liberty State today was postponed.
The Penguins are scheduled to play host to Binghamton (N.Y.) Saturday at 1 p.m. at Eastwood Field.

Golf lessons
SHARON, Pa. -- The F.H. Buhl Club will conduct adult golf lessons at the Buhland Golf Course beginning Tuesday.
The lessons, conducted by Mike Ferry, PGA Professional and Tom Roskos. Fee is $25 for Buhl Club members and $45 for non-members. For more information or to register, call (724) 981-3700.
Fergus namedplayer of week
ERIE, Pa. -- For the second straight week, Gannon University's Joanna Fergus (Austintown Fitch) was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference softball player of the week.
Fergus, a sophomore first baseman, batted .313 with three doubles, one RBI and one run scored in five games last weekend, leading the Golden Knights.
Fergus leads Gannon (14-5) in batting average (.364), hits (20), doubles (6), home runs (2), RBI (11), slugging percentage (.618) and on-base percentage (.446).
Tait to speak
CANTON -- Joe Tait, the broadcaster of the Cleveland Cavaliers, will be the speaker at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Luncheon Club on Monday.
The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Four Winds Restaurant, 4210 12th St. NW, Canton.

OSU coach resigns
COLUMBUS -- Ohio State recruiting coordinator and tight ends coach Bill Conley surprised many when he announced he was resigning immediately to pursue other career opportunities.
Conley has spent the last 17 years in charge of Ohio State's recruiting. He has been credited with bringing in dozens of players who were All-Big Ten, All-American or went on to the NFL.
Conley will remain with the staff as a volunteer through the end of spring practice. The Buckeyes began spring workouts on Thursday.
Cleveland Marathon
CLEVELAND -- The Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon and 10K run will be held April 25.
Registration for the marathon and 10-kilometer run plus the Relay and Children's Run can be made online at www.cleveland marathon.com through April 21.
A Runners Clinic will be held April 24 from 9:30 a.m.. until 5:30 p.m. in the Galleria mall, 1301 E. 9th St., Cleveland. The clinic is free to all registered runners, which may reach 7,000.
Parking rates hiked
PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh football fans will pay 25 percent more to park their vehicles near Heinz Field.
The Pittsburgh Stadium Authority board voted unanimously to increase parking fees for Steelers games from $20 to $25. Parking for University of Pittsburgh football games will also go up 25 percent, from $8 to $10.
Steelers' preseason
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers will face the Carolina Panthers in their preseason finale at Heinz Field on Sept. 2.
The Steelers' other preseason game is a week earlier, Aug. 26, against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Steelers open the exhibition season in Detroit on Aug. 14, then play host to the Houston Texans on Aug. 21.

Summerallhospitalized
DALLAS -- Veteran broadcaster Pat Summerall is scheduled to undergo a liver transplant after being flown to Jacksonville, Fla.
The surgery is expected to occur this weekend at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.
