NORTH LIMA -- Officials are seeking public input on the proposed Beaver Township Nature Park.
During a special public meeting Monday, township residents will have a chance to let township officials know how they would like to see the park developed. The meeting, which is being sponsored by the Beaver Township Park Board, will begin at 7 p.m. at the township administrative office. Township trustees and park board members are planning to attend.
Sarah Lown, of the Mahoning County Special Projects committee, along with other county representatives, will be on hand to advise the township on what can be done at the 80-acre site along Route 165. The township has proposed turning the site into a nature park and has been awarded more than $131,000 in grants from the Ohio Public Works Commission for the project.
"We're very excited about this money and this opportunity," Scott Conway, park board chairman, said earlier this year. "We want public input and participation in this effort. We want to know what people want and what they think."
Rehabilitation project
Meanwhile, township officials are looking to hire a contractor to complete the rehabilitation project at the Woodworth Park pavilion.
"We have a lot going on and we're anxious to get started," Conway said. "We have a lot to look forward to."
At Monday's meeting, the public will have a chance to present ideas and ask questions about the proposed nature park. Township officials said the session is to serve as an informational meeting, and no formal action is to be taken.
