PORNOGRAPHY Man, 39, guilty of exploiting a child, 11

Authorities said an 11-year-old girl was sexually abused and photographed.
SHARON, Pa. -- A Grove City man has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Richard Carroll, 39, of Irish Town Road, entered the plea Wednesday before Senior U.S. District Judge William L. Standish in Pittsburgh.
Another person charged in the case, Sharon Dorsch, 42, of Howard Street, Pittsburgh, entered a guilty plea Wednesday to misprision of a felony. Misprision of a felony is the hiding of a crime by someone who knows it occurred but wasn't actually directly or indirectly involved in committing that crime.
Carroll, Dorsch and Gerald E. Goebert, 49, also of Pittsburgh, were indicted by a federal grand jury investigating the case in January 2003.
The crimes
Tina O. Miller, the assistant U.S. attorney handling the case, said Carroll sexually molested an 11-year-old girl and took pornographic photographs of her between December 1999 and May 2000. Dorsch knew about the abuse and photographs and told the child victim to do what Carroll told her to do, Miller said.
Dorsch failed to report the abuse to authorities and later destroyed the photos, Miller said.
Goebert, who was living with Dorsch at the time, was accused of having copies of those photos on a computer in his home.
He pleaded guilty in March 2003 to possession of child pornography and was later sentenced to 27 months in federal prison followed by three years of parole.
Carroll faces sentencing June 29 and could get up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
Dorsch will be sentenced June 30 and could face up to three years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
