Musicians sought for college festival
MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Applications are being accepted through May 10 from those interested in participating in the Summer Music Festival to be held at Allegheny College June 19-27.
The festival will offer young artists, high school, college and adult musicians an opportunity to study and perform chamber music and pursue private instruction in the company of distinguished artists from across the country.

Anniversary dance scheduled at SNPJ
ENON VALLEY, Pa. -- Gene Fedorchak Productions will present the WKBN Polka Party's 20th anniversary dance from 2 to 8 p.m. April 25 at the SNPJ Recreation Center on state Route 108.
Featured will be the bands of Hank Thunander of St. Paul, Minn., and Jeff Pecon of Cleveland, with Mike Caggiano and John Preisner as special guests.
Admission is $8, and refreshments will be available.
Talent competition
HANOVERTON -- United High School Choir is sponsoring a "Your Time to Shine" talent competition for vocal, instrumental, dance or dramatic acts at 7 p.m. April 16 at the school, 8143 state Route 9.
The first 25 acts to submit applications and pay the $5 entry fee will be in the show. Applications can be obtained from Cindy Neiswanger at the high school. Admission for spectators is $2 at the door. For additional information call (330) 223-1521 or (330) 223-1555.
Classes at Hoyt
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts, 124 E. Leasure Ave., has scheduled a series of classes for the season that begins Tuesday and ends May 29.
Among the return classes will be basic drawing, pastel drawing and oil/acrylic painting, Tuesday evening and Thursday morning ceramics, assemblage/mixed media sculpture, ballroom dancing and kids' cartooning.
New classes will include such things as landscape painting, German I and German II, Native American wampum making, photography and mosaics.
