Lovable, blue Grover reminisces about his life in famed neighborhood

One of the best things is that the street is always changing, he said.
WASHINGTON POST
Q. How long have you lived on Sesame Street?
A. I have lived on Sesame Street all of my furry blue life. I took my first steps on Sesame Street. I lost my first tooth on Sesame Street. I even had my heart broken for the first time on Sesame Street. Julianne Moore, if you are reading this, I forgive you.
Q. How old are you?
A. Hey! I cannot reveal my age. I am in show business. Let us just say I can comfortably play in the 8-to-53 age range.
Q. What do you like most about Sesame Street?
A. The thing I like most about living on Sesame Street is that I get to have great friends like Elmo, and Big Bird, Susan and Gordon, Zoe and Telly, Ernie and Bert and all the little children who visit me here each day. That and my rent is pretty doggone reasonable.
Q. How has Sesame Street changed?
A. Well, the great thing about Sesame Street is that it is always changing. I am always meeting new people, making new friends and learning new things.
Q. How have you changed?
A. I switched from boxers to briefs.
Q. When did you start traveling and why?
A. One day, about three years ago, I woke up and realized that the world is a great big place and I wanted to see it. I wanted to learn about different cultures and different traditions and different languages -- that and I love airline peanuts.
Q. What have you learned?
A. The most important thing that I have learned is that no matter where I go, deep down people everywhere are very much the same.
Q. Where are you going this year?
A. Oh, I am visiting lots of different places: India, Japan, Vietnam, Australia -- oh, and New Jersey. They have a cool mall that I've been dying to see.
