Frank Bubba's widow enjoys sky-high view in Alamodome

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Ruth Bubba was about as far away from the action as it was possible to get in the Alamodome.
Section 318, row 24, seat 24. Tucked in a corner on the third level, she could barely see the court or the broadcast of the game on the big screen.
To her, it was the best seat in the house.
"I've been trying to get tickets to the Final Four for 15 years," she said. "I finally did and I couldn't be happier."
The Final Four represents a pilgrimage for Bubba (pronounced Boobah). Her husband, Frank, was the basketball coach at Warren G. Harding High School until he died two years ago from complications from pneumonia brought on by cystic fibrosis.
For years, she and her husband tried in vain to get tickets. She finally hit the NCAA lottery to buy tickets this year and was determined to make the trip. She brought along a friend, Diane Gregos, to sit where her husband would have.
"This is only my second time on an airplane," Bubba said. "But there was no way I wasn't coming."
And she also thinks there might have been a little divine intervention in her luck this year.
Remember her seat? Row 24, seat 24. Frank died on Jan. 24, 2002.
