UThe Alarm, the Welsh rock band that thundered through the '80s before splitting up, only to be re-formed by its leader, Mike Peters, several years ago, performs at The Dome Concert Club in Girard. Tickets are $10 at the door and $8 in advance at the venue. Best known for its hits "68 Guns" and "Rain in the Summertime," The Alarm is touring in support of its soon-to-be released album "In the Poppyfields." Showtime is 7 p.m.

ULandscape paintings by the late Paul Lewis Hendricks will be displayed from 2-4 p.m. at Canfield Historical Society's Bond House Museum, 44 W. Main St. Hendricks grew up on the family's pony ranch, which was where Diamondback Golf Course is now. He was a curator at Butler Institute of American Art during the 1950s, and he was known locally for his oil, watercolor and tempura paintings. American Indians were one of his favorite subjects. The artist's son, Paul Hendricks, will attend the show and answer questions.

ULaurel High School Jazz Ensemble from New Castle, Pa., will swing over to Boardman High School for the fourth annual Boardman High School Jazz Fest at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Boardman Performing Arts Center, 7777 Glenwood Ave. The Laurel musicians will play Chick Corea's "Spain" and "Fly Me to the Moon." Boardman will be represented by Jazz Ensemble 2, performing music by Duke Ellington, Wayne Shorter and Billy Preston; Jazz Ensemble 1, which expects to play Thelonious Monk's "Straight No Chaser" and some Brecker Brothers funk; and a special performance by Jazz Ensemble 1 members Andrew Carlson, Tony Cucitrone and Anthony LaMarca, who as rock band Jupiter Hollow on the 2004 High School Rock Off in Cleveland earlier this year. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for students and free for senior citizens and young children.
URussell Simmons Def Poetry Jam, winner of the 2003 Tony Award for Best Special Theatrical Event, comes to Pittsburgh's Benedum Center on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The show features the best of the smash Broadway production and includes many of the original performers.
