GIRLS TRACK Spartans' Moore has two wins



Massillon Jackson won the team championship at the F.E. Cope Invitational.
SALEM -- Jessica Moore of Boardman High won the 1600- and 800-meter runs in the F.E. Cope Invitational girls track and field meet Friday at Reilly Stadium.
Her winning time in the 1600 was 5 minutes, 29.38 seconds. Teammate Brittany Durkin was fourth (5:33.91). In the 800, Moore's time was 2:26.4.
The Spartans' Carrie Zorman was third in the 100 hurdles (16.74).
Massillon Jackson scored 111 1/2 points to capture team laurels. North Canton Hoover was second with 73, and Boardman was third with 55 in the field of 18 schools.
Muffet sets marks
Ashley Muffet of North Canton set a pair of records as she won the shot put (41 feet, 7 3/4 inches) and the discus (133-8). The old marks were 39-4 3/4 and 132-7.
Salem's Aubrey Horning was second in the shot put (39-2).
Canfield's Andrea Murdock (109-3) placed second in the discus, as the Cardinals finished seventh with 37 1/2 points.
Tiffany Betras of Canfield was third in the 300 hurdles (49.45).
Morgan breaks record
Canton McKinley's Destanie Morgan set a record as she took first place in the long jump (17 1/2). The old mark was 16-11 1/4.
Junior Jen Grayson of Maplewood placed second in both the 100 hurdles (15.99) and 300 hurdles (49.31), and was third in the high jump (5-0).
Ellen Midgley of Poland finished second in the 200 (27.58), while teammates Lauren Fithian, Cassey Turic, Kim Brogan and Colleen Moran placed third in the 4x800 relay (10:10.10).
Latalia Jones of Chaney placed third in the 100 (12.98).
Malorie Valentine of Leetonia finished third in the shot (34-9 3/4), and Ashley Greenawalt of Columbiana was third in the discus (108-2).
