Women are charged with stealing from banks



CLEVELAND -- Warren, Louisville and Wellsville women who worked for local financial institutions are among 25 people charged with federal bank fraud or embezzlement offenses, the U.S. Attorney's office has announced.
Kimberly S. Myers, 25, of Williamsburg Street Northwest, Warren, is charged with embezzling $5,000 between October and December 2002 while working as a teller at Farmers National Bank in Niles.
Terri L. Shoffit, 35, of Louisville, who was a mortgage loan processor for Home Savings and Loan Co. in Youngstown, is accused of misappropriating 19 bank customer checks totaling $8,463 and depositing them into her own account between December 2002 and March 2003.
Constance Hawksworth, 49, of Osborne Road, Wellsville, was charged with embezzling $49,445 from Sky Bank in Calcutta between 1999 and February 2003.
The U.S. Attorney's office says the total losses for all the cases was between $329,000 and $359,000.
