Three escapees from a 1930s Southern chain gang have appealing adventures in "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" (8 p.m., TBS), the hit movie from the quirky Coen brothers. The old-time music on the soundtrack was a big hit, too. George Clooney and Holly Hunter star with John Turturro and Tim Blake Nelson.
Comedian Kevin Hart draws on his past as a Philadelphia native in the new comedy series "The Big House" (8:30 p.m., ABC). On the show, he's a college student forced to move in with Philly cousins he hardly knows after his wealthy father is arrested in an embezzlement case. And it seems there will be no privacy in their "big house."
Though best known as a sportscaster, Costas has a wide range on his talk show "On the Record With Bob Costas" (11 p.m., HBO) that returns for a fourth season. New episodes will debut on subsequent Fridays for 12 weeks.
The N, the nighttime network for teens, will revive one the best series ever to grace the tube -- "My So-Called Life" (8 and 10 p.m.). The drama, which originally aired on ABC, starred Claire Danes as the introspective 15-year-old, Angela. It dealt with her family and the friends who peopled her world. Well written, poignant and universal, it was one show you didn't have to be 15 to appreciate.
