At 61, Ruth Wilkinson she said she is ready to retire and wants to travel. The owner said she expects to keep the place open until it is sold and hopes the new owner will keep her staff of 35 full- and part-time employees.
Wilkinson, who bought Lock 24 a year ago and spent more than $1 million renovating the building, said she wants to dispel rumors that she is closing or having financial troubles. She said the restaurant is booked for parties through next Christmas and she has no plans to close.
"We went through a slow period like most restaurants have gone through. But we're out of it, and we're looking forward to the future," she said.
She said The Loft, a sports bar she owns above Lock 24, is also open and operating. Lock 24 is open seven days, and The Loft is open every day but Sunday.
