Lillard describes whatit's like to be Shaggy
LOS ANGELES -- Matthew Lillard compares reprising his role as Shaggy in the new "Scooby-Doo" film to running a marathon.
"It was definitely easier because I knew I could handle the process," Lillard told reporters recently, according to AP Radio. "It's like training for a marathon. You run a marathon once, and then going back to run it again, you know what to expect."
Lillard and his castmates teamed up for "Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed," the sequel to 2002's "Scooby-Do."
"I watched a lot of Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin [films] before working on the project," he said. "We felt like the physical comedy of Shaggy worked real well the first time around, so the second time around we really tried to build some of those feats in even more so."
The 34-year-old actor said playing Shaggy was demanding.
"The endurance level it takes to do that kind of a character, the energy level is so intense, that at the end of it you just kind of fall apart."
Kutcher and 'Punk'd'returning to MTV
LOS ANGELES -- Curse you, Ashton Kutcher, for your lying, cheating, punk-ing ways!
On Thursday -- which just so happened to be April Fools' Day -- MTV announced that Kutcher and his celebrity prank show "Punk'd" will return to the network with a new season. In December, Kutcher swore the program was finished.
"This is not an April Fools' joke," MTV spokeswoman Vanessa Reyes said.
But, but ... what about a few months ago, when Kutcher promised the world he was all punk'd out? Was he just tricking everybody?
"Yes, he was," Reyes said.
When Kutcher announced an end to the series after two seasons in December, The Associated Press pointed out the possibility that the announcement was a trick aimed at duping new celebrity prank victims into complacency.
At the time, a page on MTV's Web site announced the end of season two with this message: "But don't worry, the new season starts in March."
Turns out it actually starts in April, but in this tangle of lies, who's counting? "Punk'd" returns to MTV on Sunday, April 25.
Celebrity babies
Jon Stewart, who delivers fake news on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show," is expecting a baby with wife Tracey, the New York Daily News says.
Meanwhile, the News also reports that Jersey boy and Philadelphia Soul co-owner Jon Bon Jovi and wife Dorothea had their fourth child Monday. Romeo Jon, who weighed 9 pounds 7 ounces, joins Stephanie Rose, Jesse James Louis and Jacob Hurley.
And in Tinseltown, Hercules' wife gave birth to one Herculean boy Wednesday. That would be Kevin Sorbo and his wife, Sam, whose unnamed baby weighed in at a whopping 12 pounds 6 ounces.
Gospel singer to leadmoms in prayer vigil
Whitney Houston once said she used prayer to kick drugs. That was before she entered, and left, rehab last month. Now, her mother, gospel singer Cissy Houston, has announced she'll hold a prayer vigil Monday night at Harlem's famed Abyssinian Baptist Church, Fox News reports.
"Let us pray for healing and deliverance," Cissy Houston said in a message broadcast on New York radio station KISS-FM, calling the event "Mothers Praying for Healing." The vigil will likely draw noteworthies, including Cissy's cousins Dionne and Dee Dee Warwick.
