hBook tells how to openback yard to wildlife
One of the National Wildlife Federation's missions is encouraging homeowners to make their yards hospitable to wildlife. Its newest tool in that effort is "Attracting Birds, Butterflies and Other Backyard Wildlife," a book that compiles its advice in easy-to-use form.
The book was written by David Mizejewski, manager of the federation's Backyard Wildlife Habitat Program. It covers all the basics of creating a wildlife habitat, including using native plants and providing food, water, shelter and nesting places.
There's also a section on designing a backyard habitat, along with instructions for do-it-yourself projects such as constructing a wildlife pond and building a nesting box.
"Attracting Birds, Butterflies and Other Backyard Wildlife" is published by Creative Homeowner and is priced at $12.95 in softcover.
