3 suspects arrested in market robbery



YOUNGSTOWN -- Three arrests have been made in the Big Apple Market robbery, during which the owner, Jihad Mahd, was shot in the mouth. Mahd, 57, of Youngstown, is recovering.
Philip J. Austin, 20, and Isael Roman III, 16, both of Rosewood Avenue, and Montrell D. Sims, 16, of South Truesdale Avenue were arrested at 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of Rosewood and charged with aggravated robbery.
At least two suspects remain at large. The robbery took place at 9:40 p.m. Monday at the McGuffey Road store. Cigarettes were taken and cash was grabbed from the register.
Austin was booked into the Mahoning County jail pending arraignment today in municipal court.
Roman and Sims were taken to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center.
