2 people in SUV being charged after 20-minute police pursuit

COLUMBIANA -- Columbiana city police and a Mahoning County task force are filing various charges, including drug possession, after a sport utility vehicle led police Tuesday on a 20-minute chase that reached speeds of 90 mph. Columbiana police did not identify the male driver or his female passenger. Both are in the Columbiana County Jail.
Patrolman Kevin Kloss stopped the Chevy Blazer around 6 p.m. near the public square. Beaver Township police said a Mahoning County task force requested the stop. As Kloss left the vehicle, the driver pulled away, police said. The chase ended in Lisbon.
Columbiana police said Kloss followed the Blazer out of the city on state Route 164 to Lodge Road, then to St. Jacob's-Logtown and Hunter's Camp roads and state Route 45 north of Lisbon.
Lisbon police put down stop sticks, designed to slow a vehicle by flattening tires. To avoid the sticks, the driver swerved the Blazer and it stopped in the front yard of a private residence on Route 45 on the north side of the village, police said.
