Unique accessories attract attention

WASHINGTON POST
PARIS -- There were splendid handbags on the Christian Dior runway at the recent spring fashion show. The most enticing was a leopard print and red velvet doctor's bag with oversized gold dice charms dangling from the handle. It was worn with a leopard print dress that was slipped over a gold half-corset.
However, the eyes seemed to hone in on the Dior accessories, which were among the few things on the catwalk that did not have to be decoded.
Also featured was a collection by designer Galliano, who enjoys filling his runway with a mix of truth and hyperbole. He presented slinky sea blue dresses with tiers of ruffles and pink dresses with dramatic draping.
But his collection also featured oversized chartreuse coats with lime green fur collars that were so big that the models look as though they have a family of furry critters draped around their necks.
