Taped suicide turns up on Net

NEW YORK (AP) -- A man's suicide in the lobby of a public housing building -- videotaped by a closed-circuit camera -- turned up on a pornographic Web site.
Police were trying to track down how the video was acquired, and the Internal Affairs Bureau was focusing on officers who monitor housing project cameras.
A relative of suicide victim Paris Lane, 22, of Manhattan, notified police about the video's appearance on the Internet, police spokesman Paul Browne said Wednesday.
Lane had gone to a housing project in the Bronx to visit his girlfriend. He shot himself in the head in the lobby of the building March 16. Police said they believe Lane was despondent over an argument with the woman.
The shooting was recorded on a camera that is part of the closed-circuit program in the city's public housing areas. The images came from a digital camera, and could have been e-mailed, police said.
Police did not disclose the Web site's name or address.
