YOUNGSTOWN -- Leroy Gore Jr. has waited five years for his day in court on charges stemming from a triple-shooting. He'll have to wait a little longer.
Gore, 31, of Campbell, is charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and three counts of felonious assault. He was scheduled for trial Monday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, but the trial was postponed.
It's the 14th time Gore's trial date have been reset since his indictment in August 1999. Assistant Prosecutor Robert Andrews said Monday's continuance was done by agreement of both sides.
Prosecutor Paul Gains said a plea agreement was offered to Gore, and Gore is taking time to mull it over. He would not discuss specifics of the proposed agreement. Defense attorney J. Gerald Ingram could not be reached to comment.
Victims
Sylvester Patterson, 25, of St. Louis Avenue, was killed in the July 10, 1999, drive-by shooting on West Glenaven Avenue. Wounded were 29-year-old Eric Little and 23-year-old Anthony Floyd, both of Youngstown.
Police say the victims were among a group of people standing outside a house on West Glenaven when a car sped past and its occupants opened fire. Patterson was killed by a gunshot wound to the head.
Floyd was shot in the face and right arm, and Little was shot in the left shoulder.
Gore's case has been rescheduled for a variety of reasons over the years. He signed a waiver of his right to a speedy trial.
If Gore is found guilty, Ohio law requires that all time he has spent in the county jail awaiting trial count toward any prison sentence he receives.
