Cavaliers set to sign PG Cleaves

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Mateen Cleaves said Sunday that he'll sign a 10-day contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are desperate for help at point guard because of Jeff McInnis' bruised right shoulder.
Cleveland traded for Cleaves before last season, but the deal fell through because of his foot injury. Cleaves later had a screw inserted into his left foot to prevent a stress fracture, and he was on the injured list for much of the season with Sacramento.
McInnis, a key to the Cavs' late-season playoff push, was placed on the injured list Saturday. He must miss at least five games, meaning he can't return before April 6 against Toronto.
Backup Kevin Ollie was ineffective Saturday night against New Jersey, forcing rookie LeBron James to move over from his natural position of shooting guard to run the offense. James responded with 41 points and 13 assists to lead a 107-104 win that snapped a four-game losing streak.
Cleaves averaged 5.4 points and 2.7 assists as a rookie for Detroit, then spent most of the next two seasons on Sacramento's bench.
