TAC Lakeview nips Hubbard, 13-12, in overtime
Bulldogs kicker Jim McHale had two field goals in the nail-biter.
CORTLAND -- Kicker Jim McHale scored all of the Lakeview High football team's points Friday as the Bulldogs edged Hubbard, 13-12, in overtime.
In the extra session, McHale caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Corey Huffman to tie the game at 12-12, then booted the winning point.
McHale also kicked two field goals. The first, a 37-yarder, came as time expired in the first half moments after Lakeview recovered a muffed punt.
The second, a 27-yarder, came with 1:34 remaining to force overtime.
Josh Province led the Bulldogs' (4-2, 2-1 Trumbull Athletic Conference) offense with 92 yards on 20 carries. Huffman completed eight of 19 passes for 83 yards and was intercepted three times.
Shaun Lane scored both of Hubbard's (4-2, 1-2) touchdowns. His third-quarter score covered 37 yards.
In overtime, Lane ran it in from the 20. He finished with 166 yards on 26 carries.
Brookfield 41, Champion 28
BROOKFIELD -- Senior tailback Chris Sharba scored five times and picked up 228 yards on 21 carries to go over 1,000 yards for the season.
Sharba now has 1,054 yards. He also threw a 27-yard pass to Justin Wellendorf for the Warriors (2-4/1-2 TAC) who netted 241 yards.
Mike Sharba, a brother and a sophomore, made five of six point-after kicks.
Sophomore quarterback Dan Davies, a starter in the last few games, was seven of 21 for 101 yards, while senior Sean Wilster caught three passes for 45 yards.
Senior fullback Keith Haun also scored for Brookfield from 13 yards out.
Brandon Blosser scored twice for Champion while Brandon Holmes caught a touchdown pass for the Golden Flashes, whose net yardage was 170.

LIBERTY -- Mike Marvin scored on runs of 3, 59 and 2 yards to trigger the Leopards' (4-2, 2-1).
Brian Jones connected on a 25 and 11-yard TD strikes to Aaron Logan and Keith Forestal, respectively.
