DISTRICT Campbell whips Mercyhurst; Beaver Local and West Branch win easily

MERCYHURST, Pa. -- The Campbell Memorial High football team scored 36 points in the second quarter Friday in a 44-0 whipping of Mercyhurst Prep.
Senior quarterback Rick Quinn was 5-of-6 passing for 173 yards, which included TD strikes of 40 and 44 yards to Will Simon and another one to Darrell Johnson for 50 yards.
Campbell (4-2) gained 225 yards on the ground on 32 attempts, while holding the Lakers to 105 rushing and 53 passing.
Beaver Local 49, Zanesville 3
ZANESVILLE -- Medium-to-long touchdown runs were part of Beaver Local's ball control as the eighth-ranked team in Division III improved to 6-0.
The Beavers took a 35-0 lead after one quarter and led, 42-0, at the half.
Senior quarterback Jake Robinson ran for three touchdowns and passed to Josh Pastore for another. Pastore also had a 67-yard TD run. Robinson's TD runs were from 27, 74 and 12 yards. His touchdown toss to Pastore covered 15 yards.
Adam Hoppel also scored for the winners -- from a distance of 21 yards.
Of Beaver Local's 484 total yards, 469 were on the ground. In addition to Robinson's three scores for 113 yards, Pastore, a senior tailback, added 104 yards on nine carries. Third-string quarterback Bobby Flint, a sophomore, gained 76 yards, of which 65 came on a touchdown sprint.
Senior Jeff Dalrymple had six conversion kicks for the winners who travel to Chardon next week.
Zanesville (1-5) had 132 total yards with 43 coming in the air.
West Branch 49, Akron Springfield 0
AKRON -- J.R. Gibson rushed for 116 yards on 10 carries, which included TD runs of 20 and 3 yards.
The contest was stopped at halftime because of lightning, and both teams agreed to make it a final score.
Josh Ferguson of the Warriors recovered a fumble in the Springfield end zone for a TD, and Tyler Hoffman returned another fumble 17 yards for another score.
The Warriors (3-3, 1-2 Northeastern Buckeye Conference) rushed for 166 yards on 17 attempts, and quarterback Bobby Swallow hit on 3-of-7 passes for 69.
Akron Springfield was limited to 4 yards rushing and 21 passing.
