Boardman works OT to gain first victory; Wilson loses



PAINESVILLE -- John Fahey's PAT was the clincher in overtime Friday as the Boardman High football team won its first game, 28-27, over Riverside.
Senior tailback Brad Beck's 3-yard run was the tying touchdown before Fahey booted the game-winner.
Boardman's final seven points followed Rick Leasure's 10-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Lauer. However, Kurt Hofer's conversion kick failed.
Boardman (1-5) quarterback Josh Susany run 5 yards for a touchdown and passed 27 for another to Nick Ress -- the touchdown that tied the game in regulation with four minutes remaining.
Beck gained 137 yards on 18 attempts for the Spartans, whose quarterbacks completed six of 14 aerials for 98 yards.
Indian Creek 33, Wilson 12
WINTERSVILLE -- Todd Keenan ran for two short touchdowns and threw for another to lead the Redskins in a battle of previously non-winners.
Ivan Stein rushed 15 times for 104 yards and Adam Conser accumulated 50 yards on seven carries as the Redskins (1-5) took a 26-0 lead at the break.
Sean Cook rushed 36 yards for a touchdown and hit Bryant Bailey for a 51-yard tally for the Redmen (0-6).
Indian Creek, which led 33-0 in the fourth quarter, had 19 first downs. Wilson had six.
