Expert to play the roleof Gandhi in production
YOUNGSTOWN -- Dr. Shall Sinha of Alberta, Canada, an expert on the life and works of Mohandas K. (Mahatma) Gandhi, will portray Gandhi in "Sarvodaya -- The Welfare of All" at 7 p.m. Thursday in Stambaugh Auditorium Ballroom in Youngstown.
The performance, part of a Gandhi Day observance, is free and open to the public. It is co-sponsored by the India Association of Greater Youngstown, the Partners for Workplace Diversity and Youngstown State University's Williamson College of Business Administration and Center for Working Class Studies.

Organized-crime expertto speak at library
WARREN -- A historian of Mahoning Valley organized crime will discuss the history of local gambling houses at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 8 in the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library.
The speaker, Allan May, is the author of the short story collection "Mob Stories." The first volume of his two-part history of Mahoning Valley crime is due out next year.
The library program is free.
