Diabetes Association plans annual walk

CANFIELD -- The Youngstown area's annual participation in America's Walk for Diabetes will take place Oct. 5 at the Canfield Fairgrounds.
Over 400 walkers are expected to help raise funds for national research programs and patient education and support programs in the Youngstown area.
Walkers will check in at 9 a.m., and the walk will begin at 10 with either a one-mile fun walk or the five-mile walk. There will be prizes for both, as well as a continental breakfast, T-shirts for those raising $100 or more, warm-up exercises, pizza for lunch, themed rest stops, and goody bags and entertainment at the finish line.
Marie Scott is honorary chairman, and walk chairman is Katie Marcus. Marsha Kamenski is the tri-county board president for the American Diabetes Association.
