Chamber Playersto open their season
MERCER, Pa. -- The Mercer County Historical Society Chamber Players will open its season at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Chloe Pierce Memorial Chapel, home of the Sharpsville Historical Society.
The program will feature music by Handel, Tartini, Naujalis and Cole Porter.
Frank B. Sterns is musical director of the Chamber Players, which includes a string ensemble, flute and keyboard.
The same program will be presented at the Helen Black Miller Memorial Chapel in Mercer at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12. A reception will follow the Oct. 12 performance.
Both concerts are free and open to the public. They are made possible by a Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts grant, an anonymous donor and the Mercer County Historical Society.
Water will be shut offto homes on 2 streets
YOUNGSTOWN -- The waterline that services Dearborn Street and Davis Lane will be shut off from about 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday.
The shut-off will affect these addresses: 2763, 2800, 2817, 2825, 2831, 2833 and 2838 Dearborn; and 123 and 126 Davis.
Work crews will be relocating the waterline to accommodate construction of the 711 Connector road. Residents should boil water used for cooking and drinking for one minute once the water is turned back on. Residents will be notified once the boil alert is lifted.
Cleanup at cemetery
GIRARD -- Fall cleanup at Girard Cemetery continues through Wednesday.
After that day, any plants not removed by individuals will be removed by the city in preparation for placement of holiday decorations.
