PEACE CORPS How to apply

Steps involved in the Peace Corps application process:
Application: Complete the volunteer application and health-status review forms.
References: Three references are required after the application is submitted.
Interview: An interview with a recruiter usually takes place within a month of receipt of the application. Most applicants are interviewed in person; others may arrange interviews by phone.
Nomination: A recruiter's recommendation is a person's acceptance into the Peace Corps, pending medical and legal clearance. The person may be nominated for a specific assignment and region of the world, but this is tentative and subject to change.
Medical: The prospective volunteer goes through health screening and medical history checks.
Legal: Financial obligations, background check and more take place.
Placement: A final match is made between country needs and the person's qualifications and interests.
Invitation: An invitation to accept a specific Peace Corps assignment is made.
Pre-departure orientation: New volunteers gather with their training group, usually in Miami, Philadelphia, San Francisco or Washington, D.C., before departure overseas.
