YOUNGSTOWN -- The Visiting Nurse Association of Youngstown, 518 E. Indianola Ave., is offering flu shots from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 7. The cost is $18, or traditional Medicare is accepted. Call (330) 782-5606.

The Ohio Department of Aging has a newly designed Web site, GoldenBuckeye.com, where seniors can find information about the Golden Buckeye Card and the new prescription drug program and other information of interest to older residents.
Medical ethics project
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- UPMC Horizon, Thiel College and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church offers the Community Medical Ethics Project today at Thiel's Howard Miller Student Center. Two sessions with the same content, which are free, will be from 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. Dr. David F. Kelly, a professor of theology and health care ethics at Duquesne University, will discuss stem-cell research.
Food-care program
YOUNGSTOWN -- Easter Seals of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana Counties is a sponsor of the United States Department of Agriculture funded Child and Adult Care Food Program. Meals are served at no separate charge to enrolled participants at the center at 299 Edwards St. and also at 721 Boardman-Canfield Road.

GIRARD -- Life Line Screening offers vascular screenings Oct. 8 at the Girard Multi-Generational Center, 443 Trumbull Ave. Call (800) 643-6188 for appointments that begin at 9 a.m. A vascular screening package that includes the stroke/carotid artery, abdominal aortic aneurysm and ankle brachial index is $99. If osteoporosis screening is added, the package is $125.
Light the Night Walk
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The UPMC Horizon Oncology Patient Care Fund team is sponsoring the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk on Oct. 11 at Buhl Farm Park. A pre-walk celebration is at 5:30 p.m. at Pavilion No. 2 and the walk begins at 7 p.m. The Light the Night Walk is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's national event to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by blood-related cancer, and raises fund for research and programs. Memory Walk planned
CANFIELD -- The Alzheimer's Association, Greater East Ohio Area Chapter, will have its Memory Walk 2003 on Oct. 11 at the Canfield Fairgrounds. Registration is at 8 a.m. at the Colonial Inn, and the walk begins at 8:30 a.m. The registration fee is $10, and walkers can solicit donations or get sponsors to raise money for research and programs.
