Sewage abatement plans
HANOVERTON -- A public hearing is set for 7 p.m. Sept. 30 for residents of Hanoverton and Kensington regarding the sewage abatement plans sent to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
The EPA had requested that plans be submitted by that date to address the contamination of local waterways from failing septic systems. Four plans have been submitted. It will be up to the agency to determine if any or all of the plans are viable and economically feasible, Mayor Dan Kibler said.
The plans and potential costs involved will be explained at the hearing, Kibler said. Local and county officials and an EPA representative are expected to attend.
The meeting will be at the Legion-Ruritan Hall on Second Street.
