Business showcase setfor Thursday in Boardman
BOARDMAN -- The Regional Chamber's Business Showcase 2003, an event that gives local businesses an opportunity to show off their goods and services, is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at Mr. Anthony's in Boardman.
The showcase is free, but there is an admission charge for the after-hours business mixer from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mixer tickets are $15 for Chamber members, $20 for non-members.

Leadership to be topicof lecture at YSU
YOUNGSTOWN -- A Gannon University professor will discuss "Leadership in Business and Politics" at public lectures set for 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ohio Room in Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University.
The speaker, David Kozak, teaches public policy and leadership studies at Gannon and led an effort to revive Leadership Erie in Erie, Pa. The event is the first presentation in YSU's 2003 Williamson Symposium Series.

Federal agency probessteering defect in GM cars
WASHINGTON -- The federal government is investigating a possible steering defect that could affect 714,000 General Motors Corp. vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Monday it has received 357 complaints that the steering in the vehicles locked up or lost power.
The vehicles involved were built between Jan. 1, 1996, and Oct. 31, 1997, NHTSA said. They are: the 1996-98 Buick Regal; the 1997-98 Buick Century; the 1996-98 Chevrolet Lumina and Monte Carlo; the 1996-97 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme; and the 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue.
Sears agrees to sellNational Tire to TBC Corp.
MEMPHIS -- Sears Roebuck & amp; Co., moving to concentrate on its department stores, said Monday it agreed to sell its National Tire & amp; Battery unit to TBC Corp. for $260 million.
National Tire & amp; Battery has 226 locations nationwide and annual revenue of about $425 million. TBC, a Memphis-based distributor of private-brand tires, had 2002 revenue of $1.11 billion.
