Police cite 2 teens who crossed viaduct

SHARON, Pa. -- Police said they cited two city boys, age 14 and 15, for crossing the closed Oakland Avenue Viaduct. An officer on patrol saw the boys climb over the fence blocking all access to the closed bridge and cross the viaduct around 5 p.m. Saturday.
They were stopped, cited for defiant trespass and released into the custody of their parents, police said. Authorities have expressed concern about the safety of people who cross the bridge which is clearly marked with "no trespassing" signs. The bridge was replaced and was to reopen in November 2001 but remains closed because of a misalignment problem.
