PITTSBURGH Judge sentences former bank teller from Sharon
PITTSBURGH -- The fact that she already has made full restitution figured heavily in a light prison sentence handed down to a Sharon bank teller accused of stealing from her employer.
Jennifer M. Turuck, also known as Jennifer Gregory, 26, of Thornton Street, was ordered Friday to spend one day in prison followed by three years of parole on her conviction of misapplication of funds by a bank employee.
The sentence was handed down by Gary L. Lancaster, United States district judge, who said the sentence took into consideration the fact that Turuck has made full restitution of the $25,600 in missing funds and had no prior criminal record.
Information presented to the court showed that Turuck worked as a teller for First National Bank of Pennsylvania, and on 50 occasions between Feb. 26 and Dec. 11, 2001, took money from her teller drawer for her own use.
Dennis P. Kissane, assistant United States attorney, said Turuck falsified her daily and weekly cash balancing records in an effort to conceal the thefts.
