Turnovers: Junior cornerback Dustin Fox's first-quarter interception was the fifth of his career and his first this season. His last pickoff was against Miami in the Fiesta Bowl last January. Bowling Green senior Janssen Patton's third-quarter interception was the 12th of his career. He is BGSU's active career leader and is now tied for fourth on the school career list.
Matching numbers: An area player on each team's roster Saturday had jersey No. 50 -- OSU's Doug Datish, a redshirt freshman from Howland, and BGSU's Ross Kollar, a sophomore from Ursuline High.
High scoring: Bowling Green's three victories this season were against Eastern Kentucky (63-13), Purdue (27-26) and Liberty (62-3).
Wedded bliss: Bowling Green quarterback Josh Harris is married to former Ohio State track All-American Tami Smith. Harris' father, M.L. Harris, played 10 years in the NFL, including six with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Big crowd: The attendance at Ohio Stadium was 104,358 and marked the second-largest crowd ever to witness a Bowling Green game. The Falcons played in front of 110,585 at Michigan on Sept. 2, 2000.
On the crew: The Big Ten officiating crew included former South High School athlete Julius Livas as line judge and another area official, Larry Glass on the sidelines.
Valley connection: Playing defense for Bowling Green was Will Teague. The fifth-year senior from Cincinnati Princeton is the son of Will Teague who played at East High School. Teague was responsible for recovering a first-half fumble when teammate Keon Newson stripped the ball from OSU tailback Maurice Hall with the score 7-7 late in the first quarter.
Reunion: The weekend in Columbus included festivities for the 35th reunion of the Buckeyes' 1968 national championship team. Honorary captain for Saturday's game was Mark Stier, a senior on the 1968 national championship squad.
Up next: OSU opens defense of its Big Ten title next weekend when Northwestern visits Ohio Stadium for a game to be televised on ESPN2 at noon.
