YOUNGSTOWN -- Applications for 2003 Christmas assistance provided by The Salvation Army and Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program will be available at the Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 14, 15, 16 and 17.
Applicants must present a valid personal photo ID, Social Security cards for all household members, proof of guardianship of all children in the household medical card, birth certificates, court papers, etc.), and proof of all household income (pay stubs, printout from Job & amp; Family Services, printout from Social Security, etc.). Total household income may not exceed 150 percent of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines for your household size. For details, contact the Salvation Army.
Christmas assistance is available to families, singles and seniors.
Library book sale
SHARON, Pa. -- Friends of the Library will have its annual book sale Oct. 2-5 at the Shenango Valley Community Library at East State Street and Sharpsville Avenue. The sale will be held in the library basement and will feature not only hardback and paperback books covering all kinds of subject matter, but also VCR tapes, audiotapes, magazines and collectible books. Proceeds from the sale will be used to buy new books and library supplies. The hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 2, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both Oct. 3 and 4 and 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 5.
