CROSS COUNTRY Nemergut is fourth as Raiders take third

CANTON -- South Range's Dan Nemergut placed fourth in the boys Division III race with a time of 16 minutes, 59 seconds to lead the Raiders to a third place finish behind Lloyd Memorial and Western Reserve Academy at Saturday's Malone College Invitational.
Keith Knapp of Lloyd Memorial placed first with a time of 16:32.
South Range sophomore Andra Sanders placed ninth (20:32) and Lisbon senior Lindsay Brickner (20:35) took 10th in the girls Div. III race. Badger was the top area team with a fifth-place finish.
Norwayne's Nicole Camp was the individual champion with a time of 19:46, while St. Thomas Aquinas won the team title.
Durkin is third
In Div. I, Boardman senior Brittany Durkin placed third with a time of 19:38 to lead the Spartans to a 15th-place finish in the girls race. Poland was the top area team, finishing 12th.
Hudson won the team title, while Barnesville's Jenny Morgan won the individual title.
Wooster won the boys team title and Canton GlenOak's Ryan Kienzle was the individual champion.
In. Div. II, Salem's Patrick Gorby placed ninth to lead the Quakers to a fourth-place finish in the boys race. Edgewood won the team title and Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary senior Matt Buzek won the individual title.
Salem's Deidre Clary (20:03) placed second behind Field's Emily Grad (19:56) to lead the Quakers to an 11th-place finish in the girls race. Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy won the team title.
Niles Classic
NILES -- Mooney's Colin Durina placed first overall with a time of 17:14, while teammate Ben Garchar took second with a time of 17:22 to lead the Cardinals to the team title at the Niles Cross Country Classic.
Noah Brak placed eight, Dan Finnerty took ninth and Brian Stevens was 10th for Mooney, which edged Howland 27-37.
Chad Holley, Ryan Trapp and Vinny Freedman finished 5-6-7 for Howland.
East Palestine's Cory Chick placed third.
Ashtabula Lakeside's Mallory Dragon cruised to victory in the girls race with a time of 19:23 as the Dragons edged Mooney for the team title.
Mooney's Angela Urchak placed sixth and Andrea Firth was seventh.
Lordstown Invitational
LORDSTOWN -- Jackson-Milton senior placed first overall with a time of 16:39 to win the boys individual title for the second straight year at Saturday's Lordstown Invitational.
LaBrae's Matt Frederick placed second and Lordstown's James Rook placed third as the Red Devils won their invitational for the first time in its five-year history.
In the girls race, LaBrae's Peggy Nichols placed first to lead the Vikings to the team title for the second straight year.
Western Reserve's Michelle Buck placed second and Bristol's Jen Armour took third.
