Columbiana overtakes Southern



COLUMBIANA -- After falling behind early, the Columbiana High football team scored 49 of the game's final 55 points for a 49-13 win over Southern in Friday's Tri-County League game.
Southern took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter as Randy Pitts caught a 10-yard TD pass from Nate Jones.
Andrew Peacock took the ensuing kickoff and returned it 80 yards to tie the score for the Clippers, who won for the fourth straight time. Columbiana is 2-0 in the TCL.
Peacock also caught a 48-yard TD pass from quarterback Adam Fast, who scored twice on runs of 5 and 14 yards.
Fast rushed for 66 yards on nine carries, and he connected on 12 of 17 passes for 213 yards. Peacock caught three of those for 96. The Clippers rushed for 192 yards on 36 rushes.
Southern (1-4, 0-2) gained 144 yards rushing and passed for 16.
