School observes groundbreaking for addition

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE: The Rev. Jay Alford, above and right, who founded the Youngstown Christian School in 1975, speaks to those gathered at the groundbreaking for the school's new high school-gynasium complex. The addition will be built next to the school, which now houses grades one through 12, at 4401 Southern Blvd. More than $800,000 has been raised for the project, which will include 11 classrooms, a science lab, chapel, band practice area, administrative offices and 600-seat gym. Officials expect construction to be complete by fall 2004. The groundbreaking was Saturday. Call (330) 788-8088 for more information.
