LIMELIGHT Awards, achievements



LORDSTOWN -- Ojochide Idachaba of Niles, a paint process engineer at General Motors Lordstown Assembly plant, has been named a recipient of the 2003 Rising Star Award by the Women of Color Technology Awards Conference. The awards are given to women of color under the age of 30 who have demonstrated outstanding performance and leadership and are expected to help shape the course of future science and technology. This year's awards ceremony is set for October 11 at the Georgia International Convention Center in Atlanta.
STRUTHERS -- Thomas Sweder, treasurer of the city of Struthers, has been awarded the Certified Municipal Finance Administrator credential by the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada. The CMFA program recognizes individuals who display a strong knowledge of the field of public finance. Sweder was one of 52 association members recognized for the achievement recently at the association's conference in Washington, D.C.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Dr. Eric Chevlen, a medical doctor affiliated with St. Elizabeth Health Center, has been appointed to the Ohio Compassionate Care Task Force. The task force is charged with establishing recommendations for a public-private partnership to provide the most compassionate and life-affirming treatment for people with terminal illness or severe chronic pain. Dr. Chevlen testified at the Ohio House hearings that led to creation of the task force.
