AK Steel's top two execsleave posts amid slump
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- With AK Steel Corp.'s stock price lagging and the board of directors calling for new leadership, the company's top two executives stepped down.
AK Steel's board said Thursday it is looking for a new chief executive officer, and made clear it expects better performance than the steelmaker has showed in recent months.
The resignations of Chairman and Chief Executive Richard M. Wardrop Jr. and President John G. Hritz were effective immediately, the company announced after the stock market closed.

Time Warner drops 'AOL'from company name
NEW YORK -- Hoping to leave the broken hopes of the Internet era behind, the world's largest media company is dropping "AOL" from its name, and will now be known simply as Time Warner Inc.
It's the same name the company used before Jan. 10, 2000, when it announced it was agreeing to be bought by the Virginia-based Internet company for more than $160 billion in stock.
New York Stock Exchangegoes on without chairman
NEW YORK -- The New York Stock Exchange went back to business without a chairman Thursday amid questions about who would replace Dick Grasso and how much more upheaval his colossal pay would cause.
The NYSE board reaffirmed its confidence in co-chief operating officers Robert G. Britz and Catherine R. Kinney, who are managing the exchange as directors search for a new leader, but some wondered whether the NYSE's top remaining executives would survive the uproar.
Some critics insisted Grasso's resignation Wednesday needed to be followed by a clean sweep of the boardroom.
