NASCAR WINSTON CUP
MBNA American 400
Schedule: Sunday, race (NBC, 1 p.m.).
Track: Dover (Del.) Downs International Speedway (oval, 1 mile, 24 degrees banking in turns).
Race distance: 400 miles, 400 laps.
Last race: Jimmie Johnson went on to win the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway, where three members of his crew escaped serious injury in a pit-lane accident. Jeff Gordon and Michael Waltrip collided in pit row, causing Gordon's car to bump Johnson's Chevrolet.
Last year: Johnson became the first rookie in Winston Cup history to sweep two races at the same track when he won the MBNA All American Heroes 400 at Dover. Johnson also became the second driver to win three races in his first year.
BUSCH SERIES
Stacker 200
Schedule: Saturday, race (TNT, 1 p.m.).
Track: Dover (Del.) Downs International Speedway (oval, 1 mile, 24 degrees banking in turns).
Race distance: 200 miles, 200 laps.
Last race: Johnny Sauter bumped Matt Kenseth into the wall and out of the way in the final turn and won the Funai 250 at Richmond on Sept. 5 for his second career Busch victory. David Green finished fifth and moved atop the points standings.
Last year: Scott Wimmer picked up his first career Busch victory by winning the MBNA All-American Heroes 200 at Dover. Wimmer won the race under caution after Bobby Hamilton Jr. and Mark Green were involved in an accident with two laps remaining.
Next race: Mr. Goodcents 300, Oct. 4, Kansas City, Kan.
CRAFTSMAN TRUCKS
American Racing Wheels 200
Schedule: Today, qualifying, 6 p.m.; Saturday, race (Speed Channel, 4 p.m.).
Track: California Speedway (d-shaped oval, 2 miles, 14 degrees banking in turns), Fontana, Calif.
Race distance: 200 miles, 100 laps.
Last race: Jimmy Spencer held off Carl Edwards, bouncing the rookie off the wall on the way to a victory in just his second truck race. Spencer, who started from the pole, crashed in his truck debut the previous week at Richmond.
Last year: Ted Musgrave posted his second straight victory in Fontana by winning the American Racing Wheels 200. Musgrave won despite starting at the rear of the 36-truck field after blowing an engine in practice.

NHRA
O'Reilly Mid-South Nationals
Schedule: Today, qualifying, 4 p.m.; Saturday, qualifying, 9:30 a.m (ESPN2, 3:30 p.m.); Sunday, early eliminations, Noon (ESPN, 1 p.m.); final eliminations (ESPN, 6 p.m., tape).
Track: Memphis (Tenn.) Motorsports Park.
Last event: The Lucas Oil Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway was postponed until Oct. 3-5 because of rain. One round of qualifying was completed and will count toward the rescheduled event. Tony Schumacher, Greg Anderson and Tim Wilkerson all won the previous week at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis.
Last year: Larry Dixon recorded his first victory since mid-June by defeating Schumacher to win the Top Fuel division of the O'Reilly Mid-South Nationals. Tony Pedregon produced his second straight Funny Car victory while Jeg Coughlin remained in Pro Stock contention by beating first-time finalist Gene Wilson.
Next event: NHRA Nationals, Sept. 28, Chicago.
INDY RACING LEAGUE
Toyota Indy 400
Schedule: Saturday, qualifying, 2 p.m.; Sunday, race (ABC, 3 p.m.).
Track: California Speedway (d-shaped oval, 2 miles, 14 degrees banking in turns), Fontana, Calif.
Race distance: 400 miles, 200 laps.
Last race: Sam Hornish Jr. edged Scott Dixon and Bryan Herta for his second straight victory at the Delphi Indy 300 at Joliet, Ill. Hornish won by just .0099 seconds, the third-closest finish in IRL history.
Last year: Sam Hornish Jr. edged Jaques Lazier by .0281 seconds to win the inaugural Yamaha Indy 400 at California Speedway. The race marked the circuit's West Coast debut.
Next race: Chevy 500, Oct. 12, Fort Worth, Texas.
