NEW CAVALIER CONTEST Vindicator reader knows news, wins car

The winner will pick up her car today at Stadium GM in Salem.
BOARDMAN -- Christine Rosebaugh didn't believe she had just won a car, so she called The Vindicator back just to make sure.
"I was just sitting there saying, 'No, you're kidding. No, you're kidding,'" she said. "I'm still kind of in shock."
No fooling. Rosebaugh, of Boardman, won a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier on Thursday by correctly answering both questions in The Vindicator's "Read to Win" contest.
The Rosebaugh family reads the paper daily, she said, and familiarity with the contest paid off.
Questions she answered
The first question she answered correctly was: What local furniture store ran a full-page ad promoting a closing sale at its Canfield location in preparation for its move to a new store in Boardman? The answer was Goldstein's Furniture, which was on page A6.
The second question, which won her the car, was: What local steel company's bankruptcy filing was the subject of a front page story? The answer was WCI Steel.
The win was timely.
Christine drives a pickup truck. Her husband, Mark, was about to buy an old car for the winter at an auction because his 20-year-old van has no heat.
It's hers
Now, she said, she'll drive the new Cavalier.
"I'll let him drive the truck," she said with a smile.
Rosebaugh is the coordinator of the Adult Basic Literacy Education/GED program at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center in Canfield. Her husband works at UPS.
She will pick up her car today at Stadium GM in Salem. She said she isn't sure what color she will pick.
Her daughter, Laura, leaves next week for her freshman year at Ohio State University to study criminal psychology and was eyeing the car, too, but mom quickly put an end to that idea.
"The words fat chance come to mind," Rosebaugh said.
She has two other children.
Matthew is in the 82nd Airborne stationed in Baghdad, Iraq. He recently was awarded a Silver Star and is a candidate for the military academy at West Point.
Andrew is a senior education major at Youngstown State University.
Two more cars
The Vindicator has two other cars to give away, so the contest will continue.
"Read to Win" started Sept. 2.
A Vindicator representative calls random phone numbers between 9 and 10 a.m. and 5 and 6 p.m. and asks two questions based on the content of the previous day's paper. The questions come from anywhere in the paper, including news, sports, entertainment and advertising.
Answering the first question correctly earns a $20 gift certificate from Nemenz IGA and the opportunity to answer the second question for the car.
