HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER Mooney girls roll past Bristol



Kelli Willis and Marisa Simon combined for five goals in the 8-0 win.
STRUTHERS -- Three goals from sophomore Kelli Willis and two from sophomore Marisa Simon helped the Cardinal Mooney High girls soccer team to an 8-0 win over Bristol Monday.
Also adding goals for the Cardinals (3-2-1) were Colleen Zajac, Nomiki Frangopoulos and Kara Joseph.
Simon collected three assists and Zajac added two. Frangopoulos, Gabrielle Fagan, Kelly Burke and Vickie Dreiling each had one assist.
Mooney goalkeeper Natalie Humphreys recorded her first career shutout with four saves, while Panther keeper Kylie Robertson had 28 saves.
The Panthers are 6-2.
Ursuline 7, Liberty 1
STRUTHERS -- Seven different Ursuline players got into the scoring act at Tri-County Sports.
Leading the way were Mariah Snyder with one goal and three assists, and Garalyn Tondo-Steele with one goal and two assists.
Also scoring were Katie Frank, Bridgett Celio, Janet Sauline, Jessica Kausits and Mallory Zappa.
Irish goalie Melissa Russo had five saves.
Amy Banner had the goal for Liberty (2-6-1) on an assist from Brittney Humphrey.
Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary 1,Fitch 0
AKRON -- With 22:21 remaining in the game, Brittany Bica scored on a direct kick from about 30 yards out.
The Irish (5-2) tried six shots on goal while the Falcons (5-2-1) had 22 shots.
Poland 4, Salem 2
SALEM -- Krista Ginnetti, Britt Davis, Allyson Holsinger and Maureen Malone scored goals for Poland (6-0-2, 4-0-2 Metro Athletic Conference).
Malone added two assists, while Davis and Jessie Toth added one apiece for the Bulldogs, who led 2-0 at halftime.
Samantha Stanich had four saves in goal and Landry Yankle had two.
Junior Ashley Shea scored both goals for Salem (2-4-1, 1-2). Amanda Thorne recorded eight saves.
Boys
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jared Svette scored two goals to help the Newton Falls beat Chaney 2-1.
Aaron Reihard had both assists for the Tigers (6-3).
Dwin Moran scored on a penalty kick for the Cowboys (1-6-1).
Champion 7, Liberty 0
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mike Harrison scored three goals for the Golden Flashes (9-0, 4-0 Trumbull Athletic Conference).
Jason Bacher added two goals while Zack Gumont and John Emery also had one apiece.
Goalie Jeremy Hume recorded 12 saves for the Leopards (1-8-1, 1-4).
Badger 1, Maplewood 0
KINSMAN -- Eric Klingenmier scored a goal with about one minute remaining on an assist from Kyle Arnold to give Badger the win.
Goalie Josh Gilliland had 10 saves for Badger (7-2).
Maplewood (5-2) goalie Dustin Slusher also had 10 saves.
