COLUMBIANA COUNTY Man charged with shooting at wife, child

SALEM -- A Leetonia man will appear in Columbiana County Municipal Court at noon Monday on charges of felonious assault and child endangerment.
Matt Marcum, 60, of Beeson Mill Road, was arraigned Tuesday and remains in the Columbiana County Jail.
Judge Robert C. Roberts set bond at $2,500 for the child-endangerment charge and $1,000 for the felonious-assault charge.
The charges were filed by Leetonia police.
Chief John Soldano said Marcum's 31-year-old wife and her 4-year-old son arrived at the Leetonia police station around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. The woman told police she had been beaten by Marcum and he fired shots at her and her son as they tried to leave.
She said they fled out a window of the couple's ranch-style home, after Marcum fired a handgun at her and missed as she sat on the couch. She ran and woke her son and fled out the window. As she fled, Marcum shot into the van from the front porch, she told police.
Marcum was asleep in the bedroom when the Columbiana County Special Response Team entered the home. Soldano said Marcum was cooperative with police. There was a handgun with two full clips of ammunition on a table near the bed, Soldano said.
