BOARDMAN -- Township police are looking for a family they say has apparently vanished without a trace.
Jerri A. Berger, 36, also known as Jerri McGuire, her 12-year-old daughter, Brooke K. Berger, and her 8-year-old daughter, Lindsay A. Berger, have not been seen since Sept. 3. The family lives at 90 Carter Circle.
Jerri Berger is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 145 pounds, with straight brown hair and blue eyes. Brooke is 4 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 100 pounds. Lindsay is 4 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 60 pounds. Both girls have long, straight brown hair.
Boardman police Capt. Jack Nichols said an investigation was started when the two girls were marked truant from school after missing several days. He said officers went to the family's apartment and determined that no one had been there for some time, but nothing else seemed to have been disturbed.
"We are taking this very seriously at this point until we are able to determine exactly what has happened to this family," Nichols said.
Police Chief Jeffrey Patterson said the family car was in the driveway when officers visited the home, and mail, including some checks, had not been picked up. Patterson said the department has sent a police dog to the home in hopes of picking up clues.
Patterson said police are also questioning family, friends and associates of the family who may be able to help find them. In the meantime, officers are asking residents to contact police if they have come into contact with the missing family.
"We just want to get their faces out there and see if anybody has had any contact," Patterson said.
