WNBA FINALS Holland-Corn, Noland help Shock force decisive third game with L.A.

The series will conclude Tuesday in Detroit.
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- Kedra Holland-Corn made Bill Laimbeer's preseason move look brilliant.
Holland-Corn scored 16 points, including 10 of Detroit's last 12, as the Shock beat the Los Angeles Sparks 62-61 on Sunday to force a decisive third game in the WNBA Finals.
Deanna Nolan's two free throws with 12.1 seconds remaining won the game for the Shock, but the victory would not have been possible without Holland-Corn's performance.
When the two-time defending champion Sparks made an 18-5 run to pull within two points with 8:13 to go, Holland-Corn scored seven points in less than two minutes.
When Los Angeles took a 61-57 lead, Holland-Corn made a clutch 3-pointer with 1:11 remaining.
"When they went up four, all I heard was, 'Kedra, you're back in,' " Holland-Corn said. "When I heard that, I said, 'If I get a shot, it's going up no matter what.' "
Having the confidence to take and make such a shot was what Laimbeer, the former player who is Detroit's coach and director of player personnel, was looking for when he traded the fifth pick in the draft to Sacramento for the fifth-year veteran in April.
Holland-Corn was a starter in Sacramento, but accepted her role as a reserve guard in Detroit.
"I'm very happy for her," Laimbeer said. "This was a great culmination of her season. We have one more game to go, but this just accentuated how professional she is."
Final shot
The best-of-3 series will conclude Tuesday at The Palace, which drew a franchise-record crowd of 17,846 for Game 2. It was the second-largest crowd for a WNBA Final, behind the 19,563 for a 2000 game between New York and Houston at Madison Square Garden.
"It seems like we are just giving games away when we come in here," Los Angeles coach Michael Cooper said. "It was another game I thought we had in hand, we should have and we let Holland-Corn get loose for 3.
"That's the intestinal fortitude they have. They have been doing that all season long and again, they have come through with another one."
The Sparks were unable to get off a clean shot in the final seconds after DeLisha Milton tried to make a pass to Lisa Leslie near the basket.
Detroit's top player, Swin Cash, was limited to nine points on 4-of-12 shooting. Nolan had 14 points.
Leslie scored 16 of her 18 points during Los Angeles' second-half comeback. Milton also scored 18. Nikki Teasley had 10 points and six assists.
