STATE RECOGNITION
Schools of Promise
The Schools of Promise program recognizes elementary, middle and high schools across Ohio that are demonstrating high achievement for all groups of pupils. These schools met or exceeded the following criteria according to 2002-03 data:
At least half of the pupils met low-income criteria.
In mathematics or reading, 75 percent or more of the pupils passed the proficiency tests in 2002-03 and at least 50 percent passed in 2001-02.
At least 75 percent of low-income pupils passed the tests.
At least 75 percent of pupils from the major ethnic/racial groups (of five or more pupils) in the school passed the tests.
The school met the goals of Adequate Yearly Progress under federal guidelines for all of the above groups of pupils, including those with disabilities and those with limited English proficiency.
